| I Would Describe Myself As | I am a "Marathon maniac" who enjoys traveling all over the US & world to participate in marathons & see the sights. So far I have completed a marathon on 6 continents (hoping to finish up the circuit with the 7th continent in May 2013: Great Wall of China Marathon!) & in 33 states. I have also done a bunch in CA, including most recently the Summer 7: 7 marathons-7 days, which bring my total to 90 marathons so far. I'm hoping to reach 100 by Oct 2012. I prefer to participate in marathons for exercise & companionship, so I tend to do them leisurely (combo of run/walk) & just enjoy myself. I really like to find ways to challenge myself with endurance events, so I will sometimes do a few marathons in a row, do them at high altitude & /or steep inclines (such as Pike's Peak Marathon which I completed in Aug 2011) or do ultramarathons (so far up to 50 miles), etc. As you can see, this is a slight obsession :-) I also like to do yoga, cross-train at the gym, hike (I have summitted Mt. Whitney & Mt. Kilimanjaro, & hope to do a few other tall non-technical mountains in the future), and watch sports of all kinds on TV. I am currently a graduate student at UCI studying the area of Health in Psychology (Dept of Psychology & Social Behavior), so in all areas of my life I try to practice principles of Fitness, Health & Wellness! This includes indulging in an occasional glass of wine or other "adult beverage." :) I think balance is the key to a healthy happy life! Carpe Diem!! |
